At the Albertinum Dresden, the permanent exhibition Galerie Neue Meister und Skulpturensammlung from 1800 onwards shows a long arc of art from Romanticism to the present day. In Dresden, painting and sculpture are not thought of separately, but as interconnected forms of seeing and remembering. Works by Caspar David Friedrich, Otto Dix, Gerhard Richter and other positions open up a dialogue between image, body and modernity. The collection makes art history visible as a development that unfolds in the alternation of aesthetic and social perspectives.
