From 13 July 2025, Schloss Allstedt is devoting the exhibition “Sein und Schein. Thomas Müntzer” to Thomas Müntzer. It focuses on Müntzer’s activities in Allstedt, where he became pastor of St John’s Church in 1523 and shortly afterwards emerged as a controversial Reformer.\n\nThe exhibition begins in the castle kitchen in the west wing and leads into the Hofstube, the historic setting of the so-called Sermon to the Princes. A multimedia production recounts Müntzer’s life, while objects and documents in the east wing place the town’s history, his theology, his conflict with Martin Luther and the uprisings of 1525 in context.
