Marking the 50th anniversary of Pierre Molinier’s death, “Sui Generis” brings together his provocative erotic photographs and photomontages, which engage with questions of identity, self-staging and the ideal self. Photographs, collages, archival material, personal objects and furniture from his studio-home offer insights into the French artist’s life and work. Angélique Aubrit and Ludovic Beillard enter into a contemporary dialogue with Molinier through immersive environments combining sculpture, installation, video, performance and drawing. For the exhibition, they are developing a new chapter of their film project “une solitude vraiment terrible” in resonance with his life and work.
