To mark Markus Lüpertz’s 85th birthday, Galerie Michael Werner is presenting an anniversary exhibition of recent paintings. At its center is Lüpertz’s engagement with mythological motifs, figurative gesture and painting itself; the title points to a critical examination and reordering of modern concepts of the image. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with texts by Sigfried Gohr, Nils Emmerichs, Ulf Jensen and Rainer Metzger.
