The touring exhibition traces the stylistic and formal development of the sculptor Ewald Mataré, with a particular focus on his animal sculptures. Through his depictions of animals—especially cows—Mataré occupied an independent position in German sculpture and, as a professor at the Düsseldorf Academy, influenced, among others, Joseph Beuys and Günter Haese.
