Taking the work of Edgar Klier as its point of departure, the intervention examines artistic production in Zwickau between 1949 and 1989 in the tension between artistic aspiration, everyday life, and social reality. It also turns its attention to the Zwickau School of Painting and Drawing, as well as to previously little-noticed female perspectives within the art of the GDR.
