Nico Sawatzki dedicates himself to places in his native city of Regensburg in “Good Neighbourhood”. His painting moves between abstraction, landscape and memory; layers of spray paint and acrylic create atmospheric spaces reminiscent of horizons, weather and distant landscapes. For the first time, Sawatzki provides his works with geographical coordinates and links the seemingly open pictorial spaces back to real places. The exhibition at the Städtische Galerie Leerer Beutel combines personal perception with a scenic topography of Regensburg.
