At the Kunstverein für die Rheinlande und Westfalen in Düsseldorf, Maximiliane Baumgartner shows a multi-part project between contemporary art, painting and research with Proxy – The Citizen as a Plant. The starting point is the Düsseldorf Nordpark and the 1937 Reichsausstellung Schaffendes Volk, which are translated into today’s image-critical and power-critical narrative. The exhibition will be on view at Grabbeplatz 4 from 23 May to 23 August 2026, where public places and historical references will not be treated as a mere background, but as part of an artistic study of representation and power.
