With “To the Moon Year of the Horse. A Galop through Time and Space”, the Museum of East Asian Art Cologne shows an art-historical approach to an animal of particular cultural importance. In painting, graphics, ceramics, porcelain, bronze and lacquer, the role of the horse in East Asia unfolds over a long period of time. The exhibition runs from December 3, 2025 to January 31, 2027 at Universitätsstraße 100 in Cologne. The focus is on images of power, dignity, movement and ritual, ranging from early testimonies to the modern age.
