In the Neues Museum in Berlin, the exhibition “The Crown of Kertsch. Treasures from Europe’s Early Period” is devoted to a look at early forms of art and domination in Europe. The title refers to a treasure find that serves as a starting point for placing material evidence from distant epochs in a larger cultural-historical context. Between October 19, 2017 and February 22, 2027, the presentation features objects that tell of wealth, status and artisanal sophistication. The focus is not so much on a single work as on how early-historical finds shape our vision of Europe’s beginnings.
