At the Alte Pinakothek in Munich, the collection presentation Alte Meister in Bewegung shows a newly ordered selection of around 200 paintings. In the halls of the Upper Gallery, works that were otherwise presented separately enter into unusual relationships with each other and open up new perspectives on motifs, forms and pictorial themes. The exhibition questions the traditional, chronologically and geographically ordered hanging of the collection. Instead, dialogical constellations and thematic groups are created that reveal connections across style and epoch boundaries. This moves well-known masterpieces from different centuries into a fresh art-historical context.
