In the Archbishop's Diocesan Museum and Cathedral Treasure Chamber in Paderborn, the exhibition The Hands to Heaven. Greeting - gesture - prayer is dedicated to the meaning of gestures in art and piety. Sculptures, paintings, graphics, as well as book and treasure art open up a glimpse of signs of greeting, pleading, comfort and power. The show organizes works from around 1,000 years of cultural history in thematic contexts and connects the Middle Ages, modern times and present. Rarely shown collections can also be seen. The tour starts with the physical gesture and leads to its spiritual and symbolic levels.
