The presentation at the Museum Ludwig in Cologne brings together photographs from East and West Germany, created around 1980. The focus is on works by seven photographers depicting everyday scenes, portraits and casual moments. The selection opens up a view of living environments in two states whose political and economic order shaped everyday life in different ways. Many images avoid clear interpretations and dispense with spectacular events. Only the titles often make the respective context of creation precisely readable. This creates a concentrated access to the photography of that time between observation, document and silent commentary. The exhibition can be seen from 18 April to 11 October 2026 at Heinrich-Böll-Platz.
