At the Museum Angewandte Kunst in Frankfurt am Main, the exhibition Positions on Freedom. Design and its Limits the thing Fellowship 2026 from 14 May to 28 June 2026 is dedicated to the tension between freedom and design. The starting point is the question of whether design can facilitate liberation, stabilize control or achieve both at the same time. The presentation is designed in three parts: it combines a group exhibition resulting from an open call with new works by commissioned designers and a reader with theoretical contributions and discussions. Design becomes visible as a practice that negotiates between social norms, power relations and material conditions.
