“150 Jahre Museum für Völkerkunde Dresden. Einblicke – Geschichten – Stationen” marks the 150th anniversary of the Museum für Völkerkunde Dresden through selected objects, stories, people and contexts that have shaped the institution. Rather than offering a strictly chronological retrospective, the presentation sets thematic focuses: it includes nephrite and jadeite objects, soapstone figures from former electoral collections, dolls from northern Russia, jewellery from North Africa, and objects from Cameroon, Vietnam, Chile, Brazil and Tunisia. Additional “Satelliten” stations in other museums of the Staatliche Kunstsammlungen Dresden place individual objects and object groups in relation to other collections. The exhibition is on view at the Japanisches Palais from 24 October 2025 to 16 August 2026.
