Ezra Šimek: Every Day, Every Week Another Historical Image Floods Our Screens

Ezra Šimek's installation combines sporting and historical visual worlds with a precisely set spatial effect of mirror, curtain and projection. In an approximately 18-minute video series, motifs from Olympic ceremonies, a historical sporting figure and a winning pose meet; the soundtrack arranges them annotatingly and shifts the view to questions of attribution and staging. The work unfolds at Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin and can be seen from 12 June to 9 August 2026. Instead of merely showing pictures, Šimek reveals her theatrical and media construction, combining contemporary moments with historical references.
