“Steina: Playback” at Haus der Kunst in Munich shows the artist’s first major retrospective in Germany. The exhibition spans the spectrum from early video experimental works to complex multi-channel installations and makes Steina’s interest in “machine vision” visible. Starting from her musical education, Steina developed an independent media practice that closely entangles perception and technique since the late 1960s. The show can be seen from 12 June to 7 December 2026.
