The exhibition “Die Augen der Frida Kahlo – eine fotografische Hommage von Bert Loewenherz” at the Wilhelm‑Fabry Museum presents large‑format photographs and image examples from all phases of Frida Kahlo’s life and work. Bert Loewenherz stages Kahlo’s self‑portraits using historically authentic costumes, sets and medical historical objects; a making‑of video, a catalogue, audio guides and text panels accompany the multimedia presentation. For the photographic production the actress İdil Üner was chosen for her striking resemblance to Frida Kahlo. Loewenherz’s colourful, symbolically charged images address themes of suffering, pain and hopeful warmth.
