The studio exhibition explores experiences of alienation and the uncanny transformation of one’s surroundings at the onset of psychosis. Drawing on five works from the Prinzhorn Collection, it demonstrates how patients in psychiatric institutions around 1900 gave visual expression to such experiences; at the same time, the presentation establishes connections to the uncanny in Romanticism.
