The event at the Terra-Sigillata-Museum Rheinzabern is dedicated to the traditional weaving technique with the historical weaving comb. In the second part of the course, under the guidance of Barbara Thomas, participants learn the practical application of the self-made weaving comb to weave colorful ribbons. This technique was already in use in Roman times and enables the weaving of mobile, small textiles. The workshop offers a combination of craftsmanship and cultural-historical knowledge. It provides not only technical know-how, but also insights into the everyday culture of antiquity by keeping an authentic method of tape weaving alive.
