At the Museum Ritter in Waldenbuch, heavy metal works from the Marli Hoppe-Ritter collection focus on metal as an artistic material. The exhibition spans an arc from the late 1950s to the present and shows how different steel, aluminium, copper or iron can be transformed into art. Around 50 works are on display, in which metal appears as a surface, structure and mould carrier: sometimes solid and physical, sometimes filigree and movable, sometimes shaped by rust, sometimes changed by light. The show thus opens up a precise view of the design possibilities of a material that influences geometric abstraction to this day.
