In the Graphic Cabinet in the Höhmannhaus in Augsburg, the exhibition shows Japanese art from the holdings of the Augsburg art collections and museums. The focus is on color woodcuts from the Ukiyo-e area and 26 Netsuke, small pendants with their own visual language. The presentation can be seen from 17 April to 19 July 2026. The works open up insights into the time of Tokugawa rule and point to a period of comparatively low contacts between Japan and Europe. Everyday life, pleasure and Kabuki theater appear as well as the symbolic function of Netsuke as a lucky charm.
