The Hamburger Kunsthalle dedicates a comprehensive retrospective to David Novros on the occasion of his 85th birthday. Around 40 large-scale works are on display, including colour-intensive paintings on irregularly shaped, multi-part canvases as well as copper reliefs and works on paper. The exhibition spans an arc over six decades of artistic development and illustrates Novros' innovative combination of painting and space. Novros, who has enjoyed international acclaim since the 1960s, is known for his work that transcends the pictorial space and incorporates the architectural context. His works are featured in major North American museums, including MoMA and the Whitney Museum in New York.
