Sabine Bungert and Stefan Dolfen show photographs in Black Cowboys that correct a common Western cliché. A significant part of the historical cowboys were African-American, but Hollywood and popular images have largely displaced this story. The photographs were taken while travelling around the USA and portray Black Cowboys and Cowgirls, Rodeoreiters, Farmers, Riding Clubs, Artists and Communities. The exhibition shows how identity, history and present work together in this culture.
