The exhibition Change of Wallpaper – Migration and Furniture since 1960 at the Museum Ephraim-Palais in Berlin looks at living as a social and aesthetic experience in an immigration city. The focus is on questions about arrival, temporary and self-locating: how does temporary space become a home, and what role do furniture, things and questions of taste play in this? Using examples since the 1960s, the show shows how closely linked migration and housing are. It leads into the history of emergency shelters, dormitories and struggles for housing up to the present day and makes it clear that furnishing always tells about social conditions. It runs from 22 May 2026 to 3 January 2027.
