“Unter der Oberfläche” presents works by Heidi Seemann that arose from her engagement with music, literature and human life. On view are image cycles related to Richard Wagner’s “Fliegenden Holländer,” Goethe’s “Erlkönig,” and works from the cycle “Tanz des Lebens.” The exhibition focuses less on outward plot than on inwardly felt themes such as longing, fear, love, loss, hope, departure and the question of what moves people internally. Many images were created directly from listening to music or from extended reflection on texts; they are complemented by artist’s books with drawings and texts. The exhibition runs from 15 August to 30 August 2026 in the Orangerie.
