The special exhibition 'Schumann and the Poets' at the Robert Schumann House Zwickau demonstrates how literary sources strongly influenced Robert Schumann's work. Not only songs and choral music but also his piano, chamber and orchestral works were inspired by authors such as William Shakespeare, Goethe, Schiller, Heinrich Heine, Hoffmann von Fallersleben and Hans Christian Andersen. The show presents books from Robert Schumann's library with his own inscriptions, transcriptions and translations of poems that inspired him, together with autographs of the resulting musical compositions. The exhibition runs from 11 August 2026 to 16 August 2026 and is open 10:00 - 17:00. Admission is free.
