At the MK&G in Hamburg, Inspiring China is the second phase of the newly ordered East Asia presentation. The exhibition shows selected pieces from the house’s extensive Chinese collection and provides insights into artistic principles such as modular design and the connection between writing and image. Included on display are ritual bronzes, imperial porcelain, lacquer work, painting, calligraphy and printmaking. The focus is on the variety of historical forms and how they combine aesthetic order and cultural significance. The exhibition runs from 21 June 2024 to 3 January 2027.
