The exhibition considers Rome as a social and intellectual center for German-speaking artists in the 19th century and examines the personal and artistic networks formed there. Up to 150 paintings and drawings, including works by Joseph Anton Koch, Johann Christian Reinhart, Franz Ludwig Catel, Ludwig Richter, Anselm Feuerbach, and Arnold Böcklin, illustrate the transformation of the city, artists’ groups, and motifs from Rome and its surroundings. The project is being developed in cooperation with the Martin von Wagner Museum at the University of Würzburg.

Allgemeiner Tarif für Sonderausstellungen laut offizieller Informationsseite: Erwachsene ab 7 €, ermäßigt ab 6 €, Kinder bis 6 Jahre frei, Kinder von 6 bis 14 Jahren 2 €, Familienkarte 10–22 €, Schülerinnen und Schüler im Klassenverband 1 €, Studierende ab 3 €.
